Can I bring my dog with to pick apples?
No. Due to health code violations we ask that you please leave your dogs at home when you come out to pick apples. Thank you!
What apples can I pick during Pick Your Own?
The apple varieties you may pick for Pick Your Own vary depending on the season and availability. For example, the varieties available around Labor Day may differ from those available during October. When you arrive we will let you know what apple varieties may be picked and the trees will be marked for your convenience. We ask that you please pick only from trees that are marked for Pick Your Own as the entire orchard/all varieties are not available.
Do you accept credit cards?
At the moment we do not accept credit cards and ask that you please bring cash or check when you come visit us at the Farmer's Market or at our orchard. We are working on incorporating credit cards into our payment system in the future. Thank you!
Do you take large/special orders?
We do take special orders. However, due to the seasonality and availability of certain varieties we ask that you contact us well ahead of when your order is needed.
Is your cider pasteurized?
Our cider is UV treated for safety. UV treatment, while eliminating that same potential pathogens, has many added benefits to pasteurization. There are no changes in flavor because heat is not used as in pasteurization. In addition, UV treatment is more environmentally friendly as it is more energy efficient than pasteurization. Our cider is safe (and healthy!) for everyone to drink.
Nine generations of the Nieman Family have lived and worked on the Pioneer Road homestead for over 160 years.
In 1852, Johann Niemann immigrated to the United States with his family from Germany and settled on a 100 acre farm in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. In the 1880's the barn and house at our Pioneer Road farm were built and stand to this day. In the 1920's Roland Nieman planted the first apple trees on Pioneer Road and later on 50 acres were purchased between Western Road and Bridge Street in the Town of Cedarburg. Roland's son, Willard, took 40 acres of Bridge Street and renamed the orchard HI View Orchard. Today, Nieman Orchard consists of 35 acres on the original, Pioneer Rd farm and 40 acres from the old HI View farm on Bridge Street.
